IMPORTANT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Can we come and see you?

Yes, come to the office and visit, or we can give you a tour of our farm cooperatives and producers.

2. Can we buy vanilla here too?

……. Yes, we can also offer Madagascar vanilla from here too. This is the most commonly asked question we get, and we use MVC’s farms vanilla.

3. Can we get at least one sample of a unit or bag of each commodity as it looks?

……. Yes, but you’ll have to pay for the sample and shipping. We get dozens of scam and fake requests a day, and so we do not entertain free samples unless you visit us.

4. How many days after payment should we say as a rule that we can make the first week’s shipment

……. 15 days after having received payment (because of the ship schedule, the TC booking, the organization of loading, transport to the port…)

5. Are you sure you can get everything exported out of the country without the customs stealing money? How will you deal with this?

……. The FOB price we offer already include all real payments to do near customs office and all formalities and procedures in Madagascar. We work with a forwarding agent company, so every time we have to send a TC, we only load it and deliver it to their warehouse near the port where we have to ship it, and they take in charge of everything about customs procedures…

6. Can we talk to some experts about a particular commodity or product?

……. Ok, we’ll prepare this meeting or call.

7. What will be the contact phone and opening hours for this business?

……. (261) 34 05 790 55 is the business mainline, and hours are 8 am – 6 pm

8. Are these crops and products “organic, fair-trade, etc”

…….No. Those words in Madagascar are usually a scam and we do not promise any of that. You are responsible for doing any FDA or food safety and organic and import procedures, labeling, etc. All liability and responsibility lies with you once it leaves our farms and producers.

9. If we pay to the US bank of MGC, can we can pay with credit card or bank transfer?

……. Yes, this is safer for everybody and clearer, and we will create a bill from the US company to the client.

10. How do we protect ourselves from not just liability but people purposefully blaming us for perishable goods and these products rotting, having bugs, having not so fresh after arrival, etc? How do we control and police what we get for that, and make sure the customer is both happy and doesnt make up bad things about us?

……. Blame like this in perishable good exists. First, we will ensure that all the amount of goods exported is paid in advance and so this is non-negotiable. If it’s not the case, we will not send to the client all the shipping documents (Bill of Lading – BL) from the shipping transport company. As there is insurance for the goods exported and as we will care particularly about TC temperature, we leave all questions about possible products rotting, having bugs, having lost freshness to the insurance company. If all the instructions that we give to the shipping company are well respected (mainly the temperature inside the TC), it’s not our responsibility, so if it’s the case, it will belong to the shipping company to manage this and pay for it. And be sure, our producers and handlers will ensure they ship goods in the best conditions.

I am a huge huge believer in commodities and think it is the single best field and investment in Madagascar. Can I invest long term in this or in share or co-production?

……. We agree with you too about this field of investment in Madagascar. And be sure, year by year, we will continue to try to find the most competitive price. Effectively, with the regularity of our purchase near suppliers and farmers,we will receive lower prices. If you’d like to co-invest with us, we can set up the sale of land, of co-purchasing, of planting, or co-manage your farmland for you, to give you exclusive rights to the crop produced in that plot, at much cheaper costs, however pursuant to world market prices which can change.
